Ross Geller's 10 Best Episodes

When it comes to iconic sitcoms, none quite compare to the legacy NBC's Friends has left behind. Not only did the show last an impressive ten seasons but the show also marked the first time an entire cast stuck together to be paid $1 million an episode each.

While Friends is without a doubt iconic, it would not have reached such iconic status without the six characters fans have come to love or hate. Ross Geller is definitely one of the characters who fall into the muddled gray area. Fans either love him or hate him and there's no changing their mind. Still, the paleontologist who is hopelessly in love with his sister's best friend did have some shining moments throughout the ten seasons that made even the naysayers appreciate Ross.

10 'The One Where Ross Finds Out' (Season 2, Episode 7)

Much of the buzz around Friends in the early years had to do with Ross and Rachel's will-they won't-they style relationship. The first season did an excellent job setting up that Ross still loved Rachel and this theme continued throughout the show.

During season 2, Ross and Rachel got their first chance to be together in the episode "The One Where Ross Finds Out." Ross finally got the kiss he'd been dreaming of after learning that Rachel had feelings for him when she called and left him a drunk message. The scene not only shows off Ross's softer side but it's also one of the best kisses of all time.

9 'The One With All The Resolutions' (Season 5, Episode 11)

There's no denying that things weren't ever easy for Ross but most of the obstacles in his life were his own fault. Perhaps, that's why fans gravitate away from him

However, Ross manages to steal the show in one of the best episodes of season 5. After having a pretty bad year, Ross decides that his New Year's resolution for 1999 is to be happy and try something new every single day. He begins this challenge by buying a pair of leather pants that he wears on his first date with Elizabeth which proves to be a mistake when he manages to get the pants down but not back up after a visit to the bathroom.

8 'The One With The Cop' (Season 5, Episode 16)

With so many characters, not everyone could be the star in every episode. What's interesting about Ross's character is that he managed to steal the episode when he wasn't the focal point.

While the episode might be called "The One With The Cop," it's more accurately remember as the one where Ross buys a couch and is too cheap to have it delivered. What happens next is one of the most hilarious moments of the show as Ross continuously yells "pivot" at Rachel and Chandler who have graciously offered to help him move the couch.

7 'The One Where Joey Loses His Insurance' (Season 6, Episode 4)

Ross might not always have been the most relatable friend of the bunch but one of his most relatable moments occurred during season 6.

In the episode, Ross lands a part-time job teaching at a university. His excitement and nerves get the best of him and on the first day, Ross completes his entire lecture with a British accent. Immediately regretting his mistake, Ross tries to phase out his accent without the college students knowing but they notice right away. Things get even worse for Ross when Rachel storms in mid-lecture to yell at him for not filing for the annulment. Embarrassed and nervous once again, Ross's British accent returns.

6 'The One With Ross's Teeth' (Season 6, Episode 8)

Ross really hit his comedy stride during season 6 which helped make him more popular amongst fans at the time.

In this episode, Ross is excited to be going out on a date with Hillary and decides to get his teeth whitened before the date to impress her. However, things go wrong when Ross's teeth come out so white they're blinding and hilarious looking. Ross tries a bunch of different ways to make his teeth not stand out but nothing works so he decides to not talk during the date. However, Hillary finds out about the teeth when they start glowing under a black light.

5 'The One With The Routine' (Season 6, Episode 10)

Ross might be the worst when he's by himself but somehow when he's with Monica these two are comedy gold. Their sibling chemistry is really played for laughs in the season 6 New Year's Eve-themed episode "The One With The Routine."

In this episode,  Janice invites Joey, Monica, and Ross to attend a party for Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve party taping. Dying to land a spot on the platform so they can be seen on television Ross and Monica decide to do "the routine," a dance they made up when they were middle schoolers. In the end, the producer selects them to be on the platform not because they're good dancers but because they'll be great for the "bloopers roll."

4 'The One With The Holiday Armadillo' (Season 7, Episode 10)

The holiday season is the best time of year and most sitcoms always make a point of airing at least one holiday-themed episode. Friends is no exception to this idea.

After learning that Ross gets to spend the holiday with Ben for the first time, he's determined to teach him about their Jewish heritage after learning that Susan has only ever celebrated Christmas with him. However, Ross realizes that a holiday without Santa might be traumatizing so he tries to rent a Santa Clause costume. With all the costumes rented, Ross is left renting an armadillo costume which he explains is Santa's friend. Ross then proceeds to teach Ben about Haunaka while dressed in the armadillo costume.

3 'The One Where They All Turn Thirty' (Season 7, Episode 14)

Arguably one of the best episodes of Friends of all time is the one where Rachel turns thirty and in order to celebrate the group all reminiscing on their own terrible thirtieth birthdays.

Ross manages to bring the humor in this episode by reminiscing on his mid-life crisis purchase of a red MGB sports car. Ross tries to play off his purchase but it's clear to some of his friends that he only bought it to feel young. While it may not make him younger, the car does make him desirable to both Phoebe and Rachel who both want to take a ride in the car. However, taking a ride becomes a hilarious obstacle when Ross learns that his car has been boxed in on the street.

2 'The One Where Rachel Tells' (Season 8, Episode 3)

Ross is best when he is over-emotional and caught off guard which leads him to anxious and hilarious. That's exactly the combination fans were met with in the season eight episode "The One Where Rachel Tells."

In the episode, Rachel finally tells Ross that she is pregnant with his baby. Stunned, Ross doesn't have the best reaction, and instead of being excited instead goes on a rant about how they used a condom. While the moment is both awkward and hilarious, Ross redeems himself in the end by showing up at Rachel's ultrasound appointment where he helps her make out their baby in the image.

1 'The One With Ross's Tan' (Season 10, Episode 3)

Ross has had his fair share of appearance snafus over the course of the ten seasons. And while whiting his teeth is a hilarious one, nothing tops the episode where Ross gets his first spray tan.

After Monica comes home with a spray tan, Ross decides to get one for himself. However, Ross gets confused by the directions and ends up getting colored sprayed on his front side twice. When he goes back. he plans to get two coats on his backside but the tanning room is confusing and he ends up getting two more coats sprayed on his front side.
